These are great, multi-purpose rods – and at the price, you can afford to have multiple on your bench, each set-up for whatever brush, jag, loop, mop you use most often. Since the handles don’t rotate on these, they’re particularly good for cleaning chambers, reloading dies, etc. where you want to be able to turn a brush by hand. I’ve got several in both the 6 inch and 9 inch versions.
Note: “9 inches” means 9 inches (or perhaps a bit more) of straight rod (they’re not counting the loop in this measurement). So you can clean a 9 inch barrel for sure, and depending on what brush/jag/mop/loop you’ve got attached, a 9-1/2 barrel is likely ok as well.
This length also works well for the chamber on an AR-style rifle … if you don’t already have the Dewey rod made specifically for that task.
